A Bit of Heaven
on Shawano Lake
Rental Information

Welcome! And thank you for choosing A Bit of Heaven on Shawano Lake for your vacation! We hope that you have a very enjoyable time and that you will come back often.
Following is some helpful information for you as you plan your stay with us. If you have any questions please call us at any time and we’ll be happy to help you.
Rental Agreement: When you have decided to stay with us, please return the rental agreement along with your deposit. (You must clear the reservation with us before you submit your payment.) Email jacakj@yahoo.com
Cancellation: In the event you need to cancel your reservation, your money will be refunded if the cottage is re-rented and a down payment has been received from the new guests.
Location: We are located on the West side of Shawano Lake. If you’re coming from the South on Hwy 29, take the first Shawano Exit. If you’re coming from the North, take the second Shawano Exit. At the stop and go lights (Perkins will be on your left) go straight. Continue past the airport, past Kellogg’s Campground, past Shorewest Motel, and then watch on your right for our sign. Heaven Cabin address is 6000 Lake Drive. Paradise Cabin is right next door at 6002 Lake Drive.
Check in: 2 p.m. The cottage will be ready for you by 2 p.m. on your day of arrival unless other arrangements have been made with you. If we are done cleaning, and the cabin is unoccupied, you may check in earlier. Heaven Cabin rents from Saturday to Saturday. Paradise Cabin rents from Sunday to Sunday.
Check out: 10 a.m. Please check out no later than 10 a.m. so we can prepare the cabin for our next guests. Double check to make sure you have removed everything that belongs to you from the refrigerator and rest of the cottage. Please remove sheets and pillowcases from each bed that has been used and put them on a pile along with any other laundry items of ours that you have used. Please leave all keys on the kitchen table. Be sure to sign our Guest Book. Lastly, please leave payment for any day guests or overnight guests you had during your stay if you have not already done so.
What to Bring: Both cottages are fully furnished with most everything you will need including dishes, pots and pans, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, pillows, blankets and sheets. We have a limited supply of dish cloths, dish towels and bath linens. Please bring your own paper products. Bring personal items (shampoo, toothbrushes, etc.) suntan lotion and mosquito repellant. (We hope you need to use lots of suntan lotion and very little mosquito repellant!)
Pets: Although we would like to have a no pet policy, we are pet owners ourselves and we understand that pets are a part of the family and they want to vacation with you. Therefore, we allow one pet and charge $50 per week. Please include your pet on the rental agreement. Your pet must be kept on a leash or near you at all times. Please remember that sound carries over the water so please do not allow your pet to disturb the neighbors. No barking, please! Your pet is not allowed on the furniture or beds. Please do not leave your pet unattended inside the cottage. There is a large pet taxi on the bottom deck available for your use. You are also welcome to use our outdoor dog kennel (if our dog is not in it!). And last, but not least, all poop must be scooped and disposed of from the cottage lawn and beach area. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.
Smoking: Please do not smoke inside the cottages. Receptacles are located outside the door for your safe disposal of butts. We also ask that you do not throw cigarettes on the lawn, beach or in the water.
Outdoor Fires: We have great fire pits! There’s nothing more fun than sitting around the campfire, telling stories, maybe singing, making s’mores or roasting marshmallows and having a good time! We provide firewood. Please keep the noise down after 10 pm and make sure the fire is completely extinguished before you leave it.
Waste Disposal: Please do not leave garbage outside the cottage unless it is in the garbage container. We don’t want any cottage critters (raccoons, bear, or skunks) to pay you a visit during the night. Garbage must be separated. Blue bags for recyclables (cans, glass and plastic) and clear bags for the rest. Bags are provided (look under the kitchen sink).
Disturbances and Nuisances: We want you to have a great time, but not at the expense of disturbing our neighbors with loud music or other nuisances. Please stay on our property (which is clearly marked).
Guests and Visitors: Entertaining guests is very much a part of cottage life! The term "the more the merrier" never held more true than when you’re on vacation at a cottage on the lake with so many fun things to do. Overnight guests are allowed (keeping in mind that the maximum cottage occupancy is 10 persons). The charge for overnight guests is $10 per person per night, payable when you check out. Day guests are also allowed and we ask that you pay $2 for each day guest. The payment for day guests is at your discretion, dependent on the length of the stay and the facilities used.
Accidents at the Cottage: We understand that accidents can happen at the cottage during your rental. Although we request that you respect our property and be careful, if something gets broken, DO NOT PANIC! There is nothing inside the cottage that cannot be replaced. We ask that you please report broken items to us so that we can fix or replace it before the next guests come.
Indemnification and Hold Harmless: Here is some legal language that must be included. In essence, it means you will not hold us responsible for any of your personal property that gets damaged or stolen and that you will not hold us responsible for personal injury. By signing the rental agreement you agree……"to indemnify and save harmless Don and Jeanne Jacak from any liabilities, theft, damage, cost, or expenses whatsoever arising from or related to the use and occupancy of the premises, including but not limited to any claim or liability for personal injury, or damage or theft of property which is made, incurred, or sustained by the renter. This shall include the renter’s guests, or other persons on the property. Owner is not liable for any swimming, boating, or water-related accidents or injury."
Pontoon Use: Each cottage has a pontoon that is available for $250/week. Please be careful and follow all boating rules and regulations. A pamphlet outlining these rules is in the cottage. We have some life jackets for you to use, but you may want to bring your own just to be sure you have enough. The key for the pontoon is hanging on the wall in the kitchen and there are gasoline cans in the outdoor shed for you to use. We also have extra motor oil in the shed in case you need it. Be sure to visit the popular sandbar located a short distance from our cottage where you will find a large area of knee-deep, sandy Shawano Lake.
Fish Cleaning: Presently we do not have a fish cleaning shanty. Meanwhile, please clean your fish outdoors. There is a fish cleaning table on the lower deck along with newspapers, pails for water and other fish cleaning supplies. Please wrap fish garbage in newspaper and put it in the freezer under the deck at the Heaven Cottage.
Beach: We have a lovely beach with a large sand area. There are pails and shovels and other sand toys in the storage cabinet on the bottom deck for you to use. Please be careful on the sea wall as sometimes it gets very slippery. The lake is shallow all the way out to the end of the piers and beyond, so please no diving off the piers! For your children’s safety, please do not let them swim without adult supervision and we prefer that children wear a life vest while on the pier. Because we are on the west side of the lake, when there is a lot of boating activity on the lake we have weeds that float up on our shoreline. We try to keep the shoreline clean at all times. There is a lake rake by the flagpole if you need to use it.
Please help…keep our rates down by conserving water usage. Our cottage has city water and sewer which is very expensive. Feel free to take showers and use water as needed, but please make sure that faucets are not dripping and the toilets do not remain running. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation!
Reservations: If you want to reserve the cottage for the same week next year you must book it before you leave. No down payment is necessary until after the first of the year.
Thank you for choosing us!! If this is your first time, we look forward to meeting you. If you are a returning guest we’re excited about seeing you again!
